Laser Tattoo Removal Results

Today, the market for tattoo removal is dominated by Q-switched lasers. Before the 90s there was no good solutions for the elimination Tattoos that were in wide use. No Q-Switched laser is used at times, but had severe side effects of burns and scars. Similarly, dermabrasion and acid peels can remove tattoos, but also left scars and burns.

Q-switched lasers came into widespread use in the 90s and quickly became the most common and accepted method for removing tattoos. There are only three types of Q-switched lasers are currently available. Include Nd: YAG, ruby and alexandrite. There are subtle but important differences between them. In addition, there are several laser manufacturers that one or more of these lasers and sometimes combine two into a single platform.

Nd: YAG (short: YAG) is a crystal that emits light in the wavelength of 1064 nm. It is well absorbed by certain tattoo pigments, especially black. Using a technique called frequency doubling, most machines are also able to use YAG emitting light at 532 nm, which is useful against the red and brown ink tattoos. Blue and green inks do not absorb light not YAG laser energy and therefore more higher are required for the same effect at 1064 nm. The other problem is that YAG wavelength of 532 nm also interacts with melanin. This causes loss of pigment skin blistering (albeit slight) in the treated areas. In dark-skinned people this side effect makes red tattoo removal prohibitive. Red ink may be less visible the hypopigmentation that accompanies the removal of tattoos in the skin of dark red, although this is usually temporary. Conbio Hoya makes the Revlite Medlite and market leader, but others are in the market multiple, in particular Asclepion Palomar.

ruby crystal emits light at 694 nm. This makes it a tool ideal for removing tattoos that absorb blue and green light closer to this wavelength. There are still melanin absorption, but not as severe as with 532 nm. Ruby was the first Q-switched laser on the market. It is disadvantaged by certain inherent characteristics of the ruby. You can not shoot as fast as equally YAG power. Whereas a YAG can be fired only 10 Hz (10 shots per second), a ruby can only be fired up to 2 Hz Currently only a handful of manufacturers still make a Q-switched ruby laser for tattoo removal. Asclepion is the leading manufacturer of ruby lasers today.

Alexandrite laser emits light at 755 nm and the wavelength of green tattoo idea. As a laser Q-switching is also still used for disposal hair. Alexandrite continues to be the base platform for Candela machines tattoo removal.

At present, the YAG laser machine removal Tattoo dominate the market compared with alexandrite and ruby. This is due to its greater reliability, speed and emssion two wavelengths instead of one. In addition, files dye attached handpiece made by Hoya Conbio allow tattoo inks green and blue for better targeting, but they are slow and limited in size laser in situ. A number of manufacturers including Lumenis, Candela Asclepion and YAG have been combined with ruby or alexandrite laser to create a more versatile. Although this creates a laser which is the best in both blue / green and black / red tattoos generally are more expensive and more prone to rupture. Often the power or some other skill has to be sacrificed in the manufacture of these machines in combination. Also, if a rupture occurs, the tattoo removal practice is dead in the water until the laser can be arranged. Some lasers have a better reputation than others in the frequency and cost of failures.

Generally, if one has to choose a single laser for tattoo removal practice, should be the YAG. The addition of another laser, like a ruby or alexandrite, YAG independent figure to be a good choice increasing the spectrum of tattoos that can be treated well and increases the flexibility of practice.
