While the average person can assume that all red wines are the same, the differences actually extend far beyond the label of the bottle. With more than 50 main varieties of reds available, colors can vary from light red and ruby red deep purple.

The color and flavor of red wines is a combination of manufacturing process of the wine and grape variety used.
